More popularly used search engines including Google are improving in their ability to choosing which web sites should top their results. In short the search engines are continually engaged in making every effort to see to it that when you make a search, the results returned give you the best response to your enquiries.
Google in particular has been demoting many websites in its results pages where it decides they don’t provide enough value to searchers.
Many of the methods web site owners used to employ to lift their websites higher in the rankings and from there promote website traffic and revenue do not work any more as Google has devalued their results e.g. using hidden text to trick search engines.
Another way to increase website traffic has been to write articles which include links that point to your website. You then publish them on article distribution websites who may distribute them to hundreds of other websites for syndication. The large volume of targeted links that are directed towards your website means your site can get traffic either through people who read the articles and click on the embedded links or just through the power of the links that promote your website as an authority. Google however appears to frown on this as it looks on the idea of the same article appearing many times in in its results as a poor return for the searcher.
For this reason, this system doesn’t work as well since Google now shows very few of these pages in its results.
The income you can generate from your site largely depends on how many visitors you can get to visit it. In turn, this depends on how high a position your website pages are in search engine results for the words people are seeking. It has been found that whichever site comes first in a Google search actually gets 42% of all the searchers.
So, how does Google evaluate websites and choose which come first?
It is vital you know this as it is pivotal to how much traffic your website can generate. Search engines, especially Google, use the rate at which other sites link to your site as a means of determining how authoritative your website is.
In addition, Google also looks at the importance of the site that links to yours, the context in which the link is placed and if your site and the one that links to yours are in aligned fields e.g. hi-fi repair and computer repair.
So how can you boost your traffic generation? Generally speaking, by getting more relevant, targeted links from other websites pointed towards your site.
1) Publish as many unique articles in article directories as you can including links to your website pages.
2) Create plenty (hundreds if possible) of relevant articles on sought after topics and publish them on your website consistently over a period of time.2) Submit your website to as many directories as possible including links to your web pages.4) Guest post articles on other peoples websites. They must include your links and be unique. 5) Exchange with sites in similar niches. (The links should be three way i.e. if site A links to you, you link to site B).
In summary, work hard to get as many links to point to your website as you can but refrain from doing anything that can get your site demoted such as including hidden text on your site. Ensure you obtain targeted links in a consistent, measured manner rather than suddenly having a massive gain. Search engines are suspicious of sudden changes and you don’t want to raise flags.
Seek to make sure that you develop your site into the best possible resource for for your niche.
